Vista Property Co. Makes Shopping Center Buy

Vista Property Co. has acquired the Commons at Walnut Creek, a grocery-anchored shopping center in Mansfield, for an undisclosed sum.
The 122,273-square-foot center sits on 15.3 acres southeast of downtown Fort Worth. It’s 97 percent occupied by anchor Tom Thumb, along with Baskin Robins, UPS Store, Salvation Army, and Citi Financial, among other tenants. |

its latest store at 3434 Illinois Ave.
Oak Cliff
residents braved the long lines and heavy crowds gathered
early Nov. 13 to scope out the merchandise and take advantage
of the store’s opening day deals. Neighboring clinic
Dental Dreams capitalized on the crowds by setting up a balloon-laden
table full of flyers, stickers, and toothbrushes on the sidewalk. |

Vista Property Co. may be less than a year old, but it has big
plans.
Industry veterans at the Dallas-based firm focus on a burgeoning
niche: developing Hispanic shopping centers.
Syd Hurley's Vista Property Co. already owns 12 sites in the
Dallas and Austin areas, but it may enter the Houston area later
this year. The company's Sierra Vista shopping center in Oak
Cliff is its model. Owner Syd Hurley has focused on the I-35
corridor with his sights set on making Vista the state's largest
Hispanic retail developer. Its properties are in the Dallas
and Austin areas, but Vista may enter the Houston market later
